It's been a while
It feels like it's been a while since my last post, but I think it's only been a week. Maybe it's because a few things have happened between then and now. One big thing should have happened last Wednesday but didn't. We should have been dancing the night away at the Ultimate Kylie concert, but as you all know, that has been postponed. Instead we went to the first birthday of baby Jordan (Jordan-jai, to be correct), which was an event in itself.. Great food, great wine (although I didn't drink but those who did had to "downgrade" to 707's), and an amazing mudcake monkey!! Wish I had pics to show you guys!
Hunter Valley
Last Thursday we took a drive to Hunter Valley to chill out before we both started our new roles. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous for the past few weeks (let's not get into the drought discussion) and Thursday and Friday were no different. Blue skies, 20 deg, mild breeze.. perfecto!! We'd booked accomodation at The Vintage, which is a golf resort of sorts. It's more like a small suburb of massively lavish houses, surrounded by a beautiful golf course. We stayed in a 4 bedroom bungalow with views of the golf course. By that I mean that when Al was at the 11th hole, I could talk to him from the front door! I guess it all seems surreal and so lovely, that is until one day when a golf ball comes flying through your window. These properties are all for sale as well, with the cheapest going for about $500K. I'd love to have one.... I mean come on, $500K can get you maybe a studio apartment in Sydney?
Anyway, while Al was busy on the golf course, I too was busy. Busy getting a 90 minute massage at Endota Spa . Devine. I haven't fallen so heavily asleep in a massage before - even when the lady advised me that she'd be pressing my pressure points and it might hurt, I fell into a deep and snory sleep (so I was told ). I didn't realise how exhausted I have been from the weeks of house hunting and moving, and being sick too.
Friday was spent winery-hopping and tasting copious amounts of wine, cheese and fudge!! I'm so in love with dessert wine, I taste a semillon and then straight to dessert Who needs reds? Haha.. Cheese was so good as well, I normally indulge there but leave it, however this time I left with a jar of fromage (with sundried tomatoes) in tow... and brie, and some other cheese, and fudge, and coconut roughs... and err.... wine.
We left the Hunter Friday afternoon, all relaxed and stocked up with about 16 bottles of wine, amongst other goodies... had to face the Sydney peak hour traffic and wondered again why we don't just live at Hunter!!
Work
Well, Monday came around and I started my new Project Coordinator role. Pretty scary seeing that the guy who used to do this job has already moved on and I have had no training whatsoever. Been thrown in the deep end and right now I am barely treading water... these people are a different breed!! They talk in codes that I just don't understand.... Argh! Today I got handed a project called C&CP BCP/DR - huh?!
But I guess challenge comes with all new things and I'm gonna have to learn. I've been given 4 big clients and am gonna have to start doing real work straight away, it's all a bit unnerving at the moment. I'll survive though and keep you posted on how things are progressing.
Broke as can be
Did I mention I'm so painfully broke now... I don't know why but money keeps flowing out for housey stuff. And I'm still needing to get a wireless connection and the set up is like $250. Hmmm!! No, Al can't help me out of this rut.. he's broke too cos he had the liberty of taking time off between jobs (meaning no pay).
I have $50 to last me til next Wednesday - seriously. Dang!
That's all folks
That's about all the updates I have right now. We watched Saw on the weekend and although I'm squirmish, that movie was excellent. Excellent excellent excellent... I highly recommend it. Made by 2 Melbournian directors on an 18 day filming schedule - impressive.
Take care everyone!
